Ho ho ho!

Hey guys! I hope everyones Christmas/ Hanukkah/ Kwanzaa or any other holiday was a joyful one! I sure had a great time! spending time with friends and family was a blast! I got my mom something special, that I hope she likes and as much as I do. She deserves everything great and I hope the necklace that I got her reassured her that I love her more then anyone will ever know.
I got my dad something that brings back memories from our past. Does anyone remember lady fingers? The cream filled, that here in Colorado you can't get anymore? Well, they are cream filled heaven that my dad and I LOVE.  I ordered some from the company that creates them, and I loved my dad's eyes when he saw them. We used to get a whole package of them and watch movies together, on the couch, and stuff our faces with the one and only, cream filled, melt in your mouth, ladyfingers.
Boy, I love the holidays! Hope to write again soon!

P.S. I just thought you would like to know, I am writing this on my brand new Macbook Air laptop! See why I love the holidays! Not only do I like to give presents, but getting them is nice to! :)

Long Time No See!

Hey all of my wonderful viewers! I am so sorry I have not written anything in while! I have missed my blog and have totally forgotten about it until now. So I thought I would kick things off with some Christmas spirit! I don't know about you, but I am so ready for Christmas! Can't it come any sooner? I have already decorated my house with a sparkling Christmas tree, with colorful ornaments, next to a cozy fire with stockings hanging over it, and the smell of Christmas cookies that fill the whole house with with wonderful scents. My favorite thing to do is to sit on the couch by the window, turn on the fire grab a blanket and a book, and read. Ahhhh thats the life. One of my favorite traditions that my family does every year, is we all get up in the morning and sit by the Christmas tree, with the anticipation of ripping up the nicely rapped packages that are staring at us under the tree. My mom cooks cinnamon rolls that we get the day before. We wait for her to serve us and then we pass out a package one at a time, open it, give thanks to the people that have bought us the gift, and move on to the next person. While all of this is happening, Christmas music is playing in the background. Then we go to our grandparents, and we have other traditions for those parties. Another one of my favorite traditions that we do on Christmas eve is we go to my grandparents house, pick up my grandma, and go out to get some Christmas PJ's, while all of the boys stay at my grandparents to eat sloppy joes and watch a football game. My Christmas is so much fun! I will try to post more posts than I have, but in the meantime, Happy decorating! :)

My BFF

  Skyler-
I have a powerful friendship with my best friend Madison. You might have read the blog post I wrote about her called The Silly Side of me. I didn't talk a lot about her, but you know that we love to basically make fools out of ourselves. We also mean a lot to each other. We understand each other, we trust each other, and we are not afraid to be ourselves. We may not have much in common, but I take that as an advantage. Down below this paragraph, Madison will right a paragraph with her thoughts.

   Madison-
Hi, my name is Madison and as you may have heard, Skyler is my BFF[Best Freckled Friend]. tonight, the 14th of September, we're having a sleepover, which usually consists of dancing, make up, and a lot more goofy stuff. Skyler is a very loving person with a gentle and kind heart, ready to have a fun time. What she said is true, we don't have a lot in common, but share interests like school, reading, and sketches and master pieces of art. Skyler, YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about not posting it earlier, but I totally forgot about it until now!!!!

Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner! I am probably not as excited  as most kids are, but I just love seeing all the other kids creative costume ideas! One thing that makes me smile on Halloween is when I see parents or even dogs with a full out costume, witches hat, or even a T-shirt that says "costume"on it. In the past, for Halloween I have been Clifford, (but who knows what Clifford is anymore), a lady bug, Britney Spears,(great influence right!?!) vampire, pirate, 80's chick, and a lion. Not in order of course, just of my thinking :) This year I am going to be my favorite fictional character!! Well, a wife of my favorite fictional character......drum roll please!........Cookie Monsters Wife!!! I am so excited, but I recently found out that my favorite character is now gone! Poof! Gone! If you dont know who Cookie monster is, he is a monster that loves cookies on a toddler show called Elmo. He was banned from Elmo because kids were demanding cookies instead of fruits and vegetables. So the Elmo creators transformed Cookie Monster to Veggie monster. Veggie monster. Really. Lame. I am deciding to bring Cookie Monster back!

Locks Of Love

About four months ago I did Locks Of Love. In case you don't know what that is, it is where someone cuts their hair, and then someone else sends it to a donation center where they make free wigs for cancer patience. Well I was one of those people who cut their hair. I had VERRY long hair. In the end I cut off 11.5 inches of hair! Even though I miss my hair........ wait thats not true I  so don't miss that hair, but I miss long hair. Anyway, It was a great experience.
At first, I just wanted to do Locks Of Love because I was going to cut it anyway, so might as well donate it for a good cause. Then my thought started to shift. My grandmas sister, who means a lot to me, and is such a good person,Lisa, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. My thoughts changed a lot. Then I wanted to cut it in honor of Lisa. When I first saw my hair, I thought of Lisa. I had a good feeling inside me. I was proud of myself. 11.5 inches of hair. Wow
                                                Love+ Happiness= A good life

Nebraska

Recently, I went on a trip to Nebraska. Not a plane trip, a road trip. From my hometown Denver, Colorado, all the way to Omaha, Nebraska. It was a ten hour ride there, but it was so much fun. My mom Jeni, did not go because she doesn't like long car trips. So my dad, my sister, and I went........ and it was a BLAST!!!

First, we went to the Omaha Art Museum. My dad said that I would like it with my background of art, and yet again he is correct. Then we went to lunch. After that we went to a  huge park with a big huge lake. we FINALLY got to the hotel and it didn't take long before we fell asleep.

The next day we went to the one and only....... Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. The best zoo in the  United States. It was SO much fun!!! You would never believe the animals that were there.

The next day was a long ten hour drive back. The weekend was so much fun. I hope we can go back soon.

BOOKS!!!!!

Are any of you book lovers? I am without a doubt a book lover. I just love opening a book and finding yourself in a whole new world. When I end a book, in a way I am sad to leave the characters.
My favorite book series is a series I am sure you all know about...... The Hunger Games!!! That is my favorite series of all time. I was stoked when the movie finally came out on DVD. I have watched it 3 times already. (and still many more to come.) I also watched the midnight premier of Hunger Games with my aunt.
I have many books that I love, here are some books that I recommend if you are around my age.

The Silly Side Of Me

So you know I love my family,I love art, and I love to decorate cakes. Although one thing you might not know about me, is that I am a total dork...... and I am proud of it. I love dorking around with my friends, and my family. My mom and I are always coming up with side jokes that no one else can understand. When I am with my friends we love to do blind makeovers, play dumb games, gymnastics on our blow up mattress, and much more.
Anyway, my friend Madison and I were doing blind makeovers. We made sure that we would make each other look as weird as possible. (We always do dorky things like that) Lets just say........ we succeeded. Here see for yourself.
I absolutely love being a dork. People say that I am weird, my response is yes I am, and I'm proud of it.

Dairy Queen

So you all know that I work at my family's business. Well I am a cake decorator there, (And I absolutely love it with my background of art), so one day I was board with doing plain old 8''inch, 10''inch cake business, so I asked my dad if he could think of anything different that he could think of for me to do. He thought for a minute and then his eyes got bigger and bigger, then he finally told me what was on his mind. He asked,''What about a Mickey Mouse cake?''
I responded,''Great idea, but how am I going to do that?''
He said,''You are good at drawing the face right?''
(I have been practicing my Mickey face) I shrugged and said,'' Well yeah, I guess.''
Then he smiled and said,'' Do the Mickey face on an 8'' inch, and then make two of our new cupcakes for the ears.''
I went right to work. It was one of the best cakes that I ever made. I got many compliments about it, and eventually a couple days later it sold! I was so happy I couldn't stop talking about it. That cake still to this day is the best cake I have ever made. Although it still bugs me that someone cut in to that cake and ate it when I spent all that time on it. :)

Art

For me, art is not just a picture that everyone can enjoy. It tells a story for every individual person. For example, there could be brush strokes of different colors and it reminds someone of the time they went on their first roller coaster. [Weird example but...... that explains my personality]
I love art so much that in my room you could probably find 50 paint brushes, 30 acrylic paint cans, 1,000 pencils, [literally], 15 drawing pads, 5 cases of crayons, 5 cases of colored pencils, and so much more. If you cant tell I have a ton of art supplies. :]
I love doing art and I love giving them to other people. When I do an art piece that I am proud of and then give it to someone else, I love to see that persons face when they see it. It makes me feel good.
Some people deal with their stress by jogging, cooking, watch T.V, but I grab a pencil and paper and draw. My favorite thing to draw is my unique flower. Art is a huge part of my life, and I don't know what I would do without it.

love em' but hate em'

If you have gotten a chance to read my last post then you know that I have a little sister, Savannah. If you have a little sibling, you know that they are an absolute pain in the butt. At least when you were a child. They always figure out a way to make you so mad that steam comes out of your nose. You always try to ignore them but in the end they always win.
In my case my sister can be as sweet as honey or you look in to her eyes you see fire blazing out of control. I will admit that we do fight about the most stupid things, but the reason to that is she brings something up that I know isn't true, and I don't want her to bring it up in front of someone that could get her in serious trouble. That would only happen if I say something like ''Sure whatever.'' After all she is family.
On the other hand my sister has a heart. Whenever you are so happy and bubbly she will be happy and bubbly, if you are having a bad day she is going to make it even worse. Really it depends on your role model, and what side of the bed she woke up on that morning, [When she wakes up on the right side she usually has a good day.]    :]
All in all little siblings are a bundle of joy or a streak of evil.

Hi everyone!

Hi my name is Skyler. I live in Denver, Colorado and I love art. My art work has made it to the Douglas County Library and the Douglas County Art Show. I dont think my art is perfect but I love doing it.
Art is a huge part of my life but I dont spend all my time around art. I also have some jobs that I love to do. I am the cake decorator at my family's business, I work at an Arts On Fire in Colorado, and one that I have only been doing for a short amount of time but I absolutely love is a babysitter.
My family is more then a family to me, they are a part of me. I have a mom named Jeni, she is one of those people that is your friend the second you meet her. I have a dad named Rick, he is shy when you first meet him, but a ball of fire once you get to know him. Last but definately not least my sister Savannah, she is something else. Savannah is a sweet little girl, but when you make her mad, my advice for you is to stay away. :]
On this blog I will be sharing with you whatever is going on in my life, and the art I have been doing lately. I will do my best to write blogs as much as possible, and give you as many details as I can. I hope you will enjoy these as much as I love writing them! :]
